CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: TIANA E.H. PYLES, MHA, CLC
Tiana E.H. Pyles, MHA, CLC, grew up in a family where breastfeeding was tradition—passed down through three generations of mothers before her. Now a proud mother of four herself, Tiana has spent her career turning that inherited sense of strength and heritage into work that reaches far beyond her own household.
She currently leads the Orange Mound Development Corporation and the Tennessee Breastfeeding Coalition as Executive Director, co-founded Breastfeeding Sisters That Are Receiving Support (BSTARS), and chairs the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. In each of these roles, Tiana is dedicated to building what she calls a “circle of support”—ensuring families have equitable access to health care and education, quality affordable housing, and strong community networks. Her skill at bringing partners together, from city halls to national organizations, has helped make that support real for families through Tennessee and beyond.
On October 25, 2025, Tiana’s leadership and impact were formally recognized with the creation of TEHP25, a day designated for awareness and to honor Tiana’s contributions at the city, state, and national levels.
Reflecting on her journey, Tiana shared, “The things I enjoy most are helping to empower mothers to meet their breastfeeding goals, and creating networking opportunities for healthcare providers, birth workers, and lactation professionals to share resources and collaborate. I also treasure the lifelong friendships this work has helped me to build.”
CHEER is proud to honor Tiana as CHAMPion of the Week for her leadership and her lifelong commitment to families across every community she serves.
