CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: MEG PARKER, MD, MPH
The CHAMPS National Virtual Breastfeeding Conference is coming up on September 17! We’re celebrating the knowledgeable and passionate speakers as our CHAMPions of the Week.
Today’s CHAMPion Speaker is Meg Parker, MD, MPH, a Professor of Pediatrics and the Academic Chief of Neonatology at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Parker is a leader in neonatal health services research, particularly interested in safe sleep and breastfeeding. Her extensive research is supported by several federal and foundation grants in the area of social disparities in preterm birth outcomes, emphasizing her commitment to improving neonatal care.
Dr. Parker is an expert in multi-site implementation science. Currently, she is the Co-Chair of the Neonatal Quality Improvement Collaborative of Massachusetts and an Improvement Advisor from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, dedicated to applying a health equity lens to her local and multi-site quality improvement work. Dr. Parker has also led multi-site NICU quality improvements focused on breastfeeding and family engagement.
In addition to her research and leadership roles, Dr. Parker serves as a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee of Fetus and Newborn, where she continues to influence neonatal care on a national level.
