CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: NATHALIE DE ROY VAN ZUIDEWIJN
At 18, Nathalie de Roy van Zuidewijn is one of CHEER International Group’s youngest volunteers. From the Netherlands and a recent VWO graduate, she spent three months with CHEERing, bringing compassion, energy, and dedication before completing her placement in April.
Nathalie joined CHEERing through the Eastpackers program as part of the European Solidarity Corps, eager to make a difference. Throughout her time with CHEERing, she supported children by chaperoning football (soccer) activities, where she built strong, trusting relationships with them. Nathalie shared that once children felt comfortable, they began to open up, making her work especially meaningful.
While Nathalie humbly describes her contributions as “a drop in the sea,” she believes deeply that even small moments of support can make a lasting difference. This conviction, and the knowledge that she can improve a child’s experience, even briefly, continues to motivate her work.
Building on this experience, Nathalie hopes to expand her volunteer efforts and contribute to long-term change by addressing root causes affecting children and families.
Nathalie shares: “Healthy mothers and children are the foundation of a strong society. Investing in their care means investing in our future. Let’s make sure everyone gets the care and support they need to grow and thrive.”
We’re proud to celebrate Nathalie de Roy van Zuidewijn as our CHAMPion of the Week and grateful for the impact she made during her time with CHEERing.
