After six years of dedication and teamwork, Merit Health Central can celebrate a milestone. The hospital received its official Baby-Friendly designation on September 21, 2023!
Merit Health Central has long been a healthcare hub in south and west Jackson, Mississippi – under-resourced, predominantly Black neighborhoods with high poverty rates. The hospital has been working with CHAMPS since 2017, determined to improve breastfeeding support and provide quality care and resources to every patient they serve.
“We are very excited to receive this designation and to offer the best care for moms and babies,” shares Elizabeth Gillenwater, MS, BSN, RN, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services.
