CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: MEGAN REED, BSN, RNC-MNN, CBS
Helping families build confidence during the transition to parenthood drives Megan Reed’s work. As Charge Nurse on the Mother-Baby Unit at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Megan has spent her 7-year nursing career caring for postpartum families during some of their most important first days together. She is a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and works closely with the lactation team to provide compassionate, accessible breastfeeding support.
Megan is also a valued member of the CHAMPS team at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she plays an instrumental role in data collection efforts that help track progress, measure outcomes, and drive quality improvement initiatives. Through her clinical expertise and commitment to quality improvement, she helps ensure that families receive the highest-quality care and support.
Megan finds the greatest fulfillment in supporting parents as they adjust to their new roles and witnessing the growth, connection, and changing dynamics that come with welcoming a new baby. Her passion for maternal and child health goes beyond the bedside. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing to become a pediatric nurse practitioner, with the goal of continuing to support mothers and children through breastfeeding and early childhood care.
Megan shares, “Breastfeeding is a powerful way to support your baby’s health while nurturing a strong, lasting bond. No matter how long your breastfeeding journey lasts, it is incredible and should be celebrated.”
We are grateful for Megan’s dedication to supporting families, promoting breastfeeding, and advancing maternal and child health.
