CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: JASMINE HAMMONDS, CBS, CCBE, CPS, LD

Jasmine Hammonds, CBS, CCBE, CPS, LD, is a passionate advocate for maternal and reproductive health, committed to ensuring access to care for all families. Recently recognized as a 2024 USLCA Award Winner working to support breastfeeding families, Jasmine’s dedication to lactation support and advocacy has made a profound impact in Alabama and beyond.
As Co-Director of the nonprofit organization Alabama Cohosh Collaborative, Jasmine works to address critical gaps in reproductive healthcare, particularly through the distribution of closed-system breast pumps to Medicaid recipients. Alabama remains one of the few states that does not cover breast pumps under Medicaid, making this initiative vital for families in need.
“What I love most about my work in the nonprofit sector is meeting both individuals and the community where they are and bridging the gap between them and the healthcare or family support they need,” shares Jasmine. “I’m passionate about removing barriers—whether financial, social, or eligibility-based—so that everyone has access to essential resources without judgment or restriction.”
With 16 years of healthcare experience and five years as a community birth worker, Jasmine is deeply committed to connecting marginalized families with the resources and support they deserve. Her leadership extends to serving on the Region 1 Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) committee, the AL Reproductive Coalition, and as an Ambassador for Count the Kicks, a program dedicated to stillbirth prevention.
Currently, Jasmine is pursuing her Pathway 3 IBCLC certification, completing 500 clinical hours at a Certified Baby-Friendly Hospital to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
Beyond her advocacy, Jasmine cherishes time with her husband and four children, embodying her passion for family and community in both her personal and professional life.
We are honored to spotlight Jasmine for her incredible impact!
