HEALTHY START INC.

Healthy Start Inc. focuses on improving birth outcomes for Black women, birthing people and babies in Allegheny County through direct service, coordination of resources, and policy/systems change initiatives. The Pittsburgh organization works to ensure all families have access to affordable, quality care. They use a multidisciplinary team model consisting of community health professionals and advocates, certified lactation consultants and counselors, doula and childbirth educators, licensed clinicians, and other public health practitioners. Each year, partnerships with local medical professionals, businesses, and faith-based organizations help reduce the county’s infant mortality rate and the number of low birth weight babies. The team will host two major events this spring, including the annual legislative breakfast in March and Black Birth Expo in April.
