CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: EL ISERI, MBA

Ellison “El” Iseri, MBA, is advancing maternal and newborn health across the Hawaiian Islands through his leadership in quality improvement. As a Quality Improvement Engineer at Queen’s Health System, El supports the Women’s Health & Pediatric Clinical Program, spanning inpatient and ambulatory services across Oahu, Maui, Molokai, and the Big Island. In his role, he partners with clinical and operational teams to lead Lean Six Sigma projects, conduct root cause analyses, and implement sustainable improvements that enhance patient outcomes and safety.
El also serves on the Hawaii Perinatal Quality Collaborative Steering Committee, contributing to statewide efforts to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. The committee’s work focuses on eliminating racial and geographic disparities in care through data-driven, evidence-based strategies. Additionally, El helps prepare Queen’s Medical Center and Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital’s data for CHAMPS National.
With a background in engineering, operations, and project management, El brings a systems-thinking approach to improving health equity. “Maternal and newborn care is close to my heart, being the father of two daughters,” he shares. “Having first-hand experience of becoming a parent, it can be exciting, daunting, and vulnerable when your loved one needs medical attention. My youngest daughter was born with a cleft lip, and we had (and continue to have) such a positive experience with our medical team. I want to be able to provide a similar experience for other families and keiki in Hawaii.”
CHEER is proud to honor Ellison Iseri as our CHAMPion of the Week for his compassion, dedication, and contributions to maternal and child health.
