CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: COOKEVILLE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
Thanks to CHAMPS National hospital Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC), there is a new Milk Drop Depot in Tennessee! CRMC partnered with Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee to open the 20th Milk Drop Depot in the state, providing a convenient place for pre-screened and approved milk donors to donate their frozen milk.
“Our unit has gone through many changes over the last few years and has now achieved a level of stability that allows us to take on new projects,” shares Hayley Bradley, RN, IBCLC, Lactation Consultant and CHAMPS Lead at CRMC.
“We’ve had several staff members who have donated breast milk in the past and had to travel over an hour to do so. After receiving a generous donation to purchase a freezer, we were able to officially partner with the TN Milk Bank to become a more convenient drop-off location for milk donors.”
Previously, milk donors in the Upper Cumberland Region had to travel to the Metro-Nashville area or Knoxville to donate their breast milk. With the new depot, local moms have greater access to donate milk, which is then distributed to infants across the state of Tennessee.
Hayley Bradley tells us: “We want to show the community that we value the importance of infants receiving breast milk and that our actions match our words.”
The Milk Drop Depot at CRMC’s Birthing Center opened in August, just a few months after the facility enrolled in CHAMPS National. CHAMPS is excited to work with the dedicated and passionate team at CRMC to continue supporting local infants, moms, and families through breastfeeding initiatives.
Congratulations, Cookeville Regional Medical Center! We are thrilled to celebrate you as our CHAMPion of the Week.
