CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: BORIS ANDRIESSEN

May 31, 2026

Equitable healthcare comes to life through people like Boris Andriessen. Since joining the CHEER International Group (CHEERing), Boris has been a steady, on-the-ground advocate for expanding access to care in communities that are too often overlooked. With a background in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, along with a master’s in Middle Eastern Studies, he brings both expertise and a genuine understanding of people, context, and what it takes to build trust.

As Field Coordinator at CHEERing, Boris directly supports communities, increasing access to dignified, culturally informed care. His approach is simple but powerful: healthcare should meet people where they are and respect who they are.

For Boris, the most meaningful part of this work is helping shape a vision of healthcare that is inclusive and respectful — a vision grounded not just in systems, but in humanity.

In his words: “Healthcare and dignity always go hand in hand. Ensuring that the care and attention we provide to every parent, every child, every human being is done in a dignified and culturally sensitive way is one of the most important things we can do to build trust and resilience where it matters most.”

Thank you, Boris, for your volunteer work with CHEERing. We are proud to recognize you as our CHAMPion of the Week, and grateful to have you as part of our CHEERing community.
