CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: ARTRINA STEPHENS
With more than two decades of experience caring for mothers and babies, Artrina Stephens, BS, MSN, RNC-OB, has dedicated her career to making sure every family receives the best possible start. A passionate maternal-child health leader and nursing educator, Artrina brings 23 years of experience across Progressive Care, Labor & Delivery, Women’s and Children’s Services, Outpatient Surgery, Nursing Management, Quality, and Nursing Education. Her work is grounded in a commitment to equitable, high-quality care.
In her current role as an Advanced Clinical Educator for Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby at Baptist Medical Center South (Alabama), Artrina goes beyond teaching – she mentors, supports, and inspires. Artrina helps new nurses build confidence, keeps teams up to date on best practices, and stays present on the units to understand staff needs and strengthen care delivery.
One of Artrina’s most meaningful initiatives has been promoting skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth, an evidence-based practice proven to improve outcomes for both mothers and infants. Through education and hands-on clinical support, she and her team empower mothers to confidently participate in skin-to-skin care, fostering early bonding and supporting optimal health during the critical postpartum period.
CHEER proudly celebrates Artrina Stephens for her outstanding leadership in maternal-child health, her dedication to nursing education, and her commitment to improving care for families from the very start.
