Congratulations to Norton Sound Regional Hospital (NSRH), CHEER’s CHAMPion of the Week! NSRH has officially been re-designated as a Baby-Friendly hospital, marking an extraordinary achievement that reflects years of dedication to high-quality, evidence-based maternal and infant care.

Originally designated in 2019, NSRH’s Baby-Friendly journey demonstrates a strong, ongoing commitment to the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes – global standards proven to improve outcomes for mothers and infants. Just over five years later, this re-designation celebrates both excellence and perseverance in serving the families of the Norton Sound region.

NSRH joined CHAMPS National in March 2024, further strengthening its efforts to promote family-centered care. CHEER extends special thanks to Wellness team members Nicole Santonastaso, Stephanie Stang, and Tracy Gregg for leading the re-designation process, and to the entire NSRH staff for their teamwork and dedication.
