CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: MELISSA JOSEPH, MD

Feb 8, 2026

Melissa Joseph, MD, is a Family Medicine resident physician at the Colquitt Regional Family Medicine Residency Program, where she is building a career grounded in compassionate, patient-centered care. As an intern with a strong interest in obstetrics and pediatrics, Dr. Joseph is committed to supporting families from pregnancy through early childhood, ensuring parents feel informed, empowered, and supported at every stage.

Dr. Joseph is especially passionate about the power of education in shaping health outcomes. She shares, “I mostly love having a positive influence and impact on the health of my patients. I am a big believer in the difference proper education can make when people are making their healthcare decisions. This can have a huge impact when it comes to breastfeeding. Early education can give new mothers time to ask their healthcare providers questions, familiarize themselves with the concept of breastfeeding, and do their own research before delivery.”

During her residency, Dr. Joseph is already putting this philosophy into action—helping families understand their options, encouraging open discussions about infant feeding, and ensuring parents feel prepared long before delivery. Her enthusiasm for maternal-child health and her commitment to informed, compassionate care make her a standout advocate for the families she serves.

CHEER is proud to honor Dr. Melissa Joseph as our CHAMPion of the Week for her early leadership, her passion for education, and her unwavering focus on improving health outcomes for parents and babies at Colquitt Regional and beyond.
