CHEER is proud to recognize Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (SMRMC) in McComb, Mississippi, as our CHAMPion of the Week! SMRMC recently achieved Baby-Friendly Hospital Re-designation in September 2025, a significant milestone reflecting its continued commitment to supporting families and advancing evidence-based maternity care.

The Baby-Friendly journey at SMRMC centers on delivering exceptional, family-centered care and ensuring a positive start to infant feeding. The team’s mission is to create the optimal environment for both mother and baby during and after birth, with a focus on early bonding, breastfeeding initiation, and well-informed feeding choices. Staff are dedicated to providing accurate, unbiased information so that every family feels empowered to make the feeding decisions that are best for them. This approach helps reduce the use of non-breastmilk supplements unless medically indicated and ensures that all families receive high-quality, compassionate support from the very beginning.
