CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: CHRISTYN “CHRISSY” RODEHEAVER, CBS, BFPC, DOULA

Christyn “Chrissy” Rodeheaver, CBS, BFPC, Doula, is breaking new ground as a breastfeeding advocate and connector across West Virginia. As a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor and the Hospital Liaison to WVU Children’s Hospital for the WV Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, Chrissy has pioneered a powerful model that bridges the gap between hospital care and WIC services—ensuring families receive immediate lactation support and access to their WIC benefits before they even leave the hospital. Her model has been so impactful that other hospitals across West Virginia are now reaching out to replicate it.
A mother of three, Chrissy breastfed each of her daughters and credits the WIC Program and its lactation consultants with inspiring her path. She became a peer counselor with a mission to support families in her home state, especially those in maternity care deserts like many parts of West Virginia. “Now I’m able to go into families’ hospital rooms after delivery and give them that peer support at the bedside so they go home feeling prepared and having what they need without having to schedule to come into their local WIC office… Getting to give back to the WIC Program that helped me through my own lactation journeys with my three girls is my favorite part.”
As a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and trained birth and postpartum doula, Chrissy brings energy and warmth to every interaction. Whether supporting families at the bedside or contributing to WVU Children’s Hospital’s CHAMPS National meetings, she’s known for her positivity and commitment to helping others succeed.
CHEER celebrates Chrissy Rodeheaver’s leadership, passion, and impact on maternal and child health. We are proud to honor her as our newest CHAMPion of the Week!
