CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: LAURA BROWN, LICSW, PMH-C, CFSW
Laura Brown, LICSW, PMH-C, and CFSW, is an inspiring leader in maternal and mental health. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, founder of Happy Moms, co-founder of Back 2 BASICS, Breastfeeding Support Service, and co-founder of the Financial Social Work Collaborative, LB is dedicated to providing and promoting postpartum health and wellness resources and support.
LB works as a licensed social worker in private practice, serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Alabama School of Social Work, and practices macro social work in her community. In 2022, LB founded Happy Moms to increase access to maternal mental health and wellness. She has also co-founded the Financial Social Work Collaborative, integrating financial literacy and support into professional practice, and Back 2 BASICS, Breastfeeding Support Service, supporting a safe space for moms and their families on the quad for the University of Alabama home football games. Additionally, LB advocates for maternal mental health as a Climb Leader in her community through Postpartum Support International.
LB is passionate about meeting and supporting moms during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. In her own words: “Breastfeeding nurtures both your baby and your mental well-being, strengthening your bond and supporting maternal mental health. Remember, you are not meant to do this alone—seek support and surround yourself with a community that empowers you on this journey.”
We are honored to celebrate LB as our CHAMPion of the Week for her remarkable contributions to maternal mental health and breastfeeding support!
LB holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Social Work from the University of Alabama. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and certified in Financial Social Work (CFSW) and Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C).
