CHEER CHAMPION OF THE WEEK: JEN SEDGWICK, BSN, RNC-OB

With experience spanning neonatal, pediatric, and maternal-child health, Jen Sedgwick, BSN, RNC-OB, is a nurse leader committed to advancing safe, high-quality care for mothers and newborns at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. As Assistant Nurse Manager supporting Labor & Delivery, OB/GYN acute care, and lactation services, Jen brings clinical expertise, operational leadership, and a passion for evidence-based practice to her work every day.

Jen began her nursing career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital before continuing NICU and pediatric care at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center and eventually transitioning into maternal care leadership. Throughout her career, she has become a trusted resource for staff and families alike, leading initiatives focused on patient safety, workflow improvement, and clinical excellence, including efforts surrounding safe sleep certification. She is also an active member of AWHONN and maintains her Inpatient Obstetrical Nursing Certification.

What Jen values most is supporting her team and creating an environment where staff and patients feel supported. Whether mentoring nurses, collaborating with families, or navigating challenges in real time, she finds purpose in strengthening care through teamwork and accountability.

Jen shared, “Breastfeeding is a powerful foundation for lifelong health, bonding, and resilience for both mother and baby. By providing compassionate, evidence-based support, we can empower families and strengthen maternal-child health outcomes in every community we serve.”
