SARA NIKOLOVA, MD

Meet Dr. Sara Nikolova, a passionate advocate for health equity, whose work with the CHEER International Group (CHEERing) expanded essential care to vulnerable communities. Sara uses her medical background and public health interests to break down social barriers and deliver critical support to those who need it most.

During clinical training in public hospitals in North Macedonia and the Czech Republic, Sara treated patients from many backgrounds, including those with significant socioeconomic challenges. These formative experiences not only shaped her approach but also strengthened her commitment to equity and inclusion—an outlook she carried into her work at CHEERing.

At CHEERing, Sara witnessed firsthand how community-based preventive care can build trust and transform health outcomes, especially for underserved mothers, children, and families. She firmly believes “supporting mothers’ health and well-being ensures that both they and their children have the opportunity to grow, thrive, and build stronger, healthier futures.” Sara plans to continue this work throughout her career, “making healthcare more accessible, equitable, and welcoming to people from different backgrounds.”
