Focus: Maternal and Child Health Care and Midwife Services.

Previous/Other Current Work: Samana is a university-trained midwife employed at the Herat Public Hospital. She is leading on-the-ground efforts to enhance the CHEERing Afghanistan Program in Herat. She is identifying high-need mothers to attend the Grow Clinic. Samana and other professionals are weighing and measuring babies, giving vaccinations, checking women postpartum, and providing breastfeeding support as well as promoting a safe women-only environment.
